James E. Allen, PhD, MSPH, NHA, IP, is an associate professor of Health Policy and Administration Emeritus at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and president of LongTermCareEducation.com, a national resource website for information on the long-term care field. He has 30-plus years of experience in teaching and conducting research in the field of health care administration. He taught courses at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in long-term care administration, medical ethics, and the organization and financing of health care delivery in the United States. This book is good for learning the day to day of being an administrator of a skilled nursing facility but does not adequately teach the principles that are found on the NAB test in great clarity. To prep for the NAB test, I would suggest focusing on the State Operations Manual, which states all of the F-Tags and provides the Interpretive Guidelines for each.
